Sea Serpent - Boating
Sea-Serpent – Shields lined the ship,
The shore ahead.
Over and under,
The oars rolled on.
Watercraft I Challenge: Young Vikings receive a +1 level for receiving 6 hours of Instructed watercraft
lessons. If the class does not meet the 8 hour requirement, the remaining time can be earned in practice.
Young Vikings may earn level once per type of watercraft: Canoe, kayak, sailboat, etc.
Watercraft II Challenge: Young Vikings receive a +1 level for receiving 8 hours of watercraft experience.
They must also demonstrate knowledge in proper boarding, storing, etc. Young Vikings may earn up to 4 levels
in each type of watercraft: Canoe, kayak, sailboat, etc. Only one level may be gained per type of craft per
year. For example, Erik totaled his son Denver’s Watercraft hours for the summer. Denver spent 20 hours
canoing, 8 hours sailing and 4 hours sea kayaking. He earns one level for canoing because he is only allowed one
level in each type of craft per year. He earns another level for sailing but did not earn enough hours for sea
kayaking. He gained a total of two levels for that summer of fun!
