Wildlife Identification Challenge: Young Vikings earn +1 level for successfully identifying 20+ wildlife land

area. Take the time to learn about their habits and behaviors. Learn to identify the signs left by these
animals such as tracks, dens, markings, poop, pathways, nests, etc. Make and keep a scrap book with pictures,
photos, prints, sketches, feathers, etc. Young Vikings may only earn this level once.

Hunt II Challenge: Young Vikings earn +1 level for performing a successful small game hunt. The game must
also be honored with some gift, a prayer to Ancestors, etc. Although this does not need to be an elaborate
ritual, you will find many hunting families have some tradition similar to this regardless of their religious
beliefs. The final stage is the consumption of the game killed and the sharing of it with the community.
Hunting of certain non-game animals, such as coyote, may not make this final stage appropriate but the keeping
of hide and use of other parts may be possible. Feel free to consult the Viking Council if you have any
questions. Young Vikings may earn this level only once per year for Rifle/shotgun and once per year for bow
and arrow. There is no limit to the maximum number of levels a Young Viking can gain as long as only one level
per type of hunting tool is used.
