Trash Clean Up Challenge, Young Vikings earn +1 level for a nature clean up. If it is along a roadway and there
is a significant amount of trash, 2 hours is a good length of time. A larger area may not be as littered but may
require more time to clean up. Be sure to bring several types of bags to recycle the different types of
materials at your town dump or transfer station. This is the best way to teach kids not to litter and
encourage them to speak up and tell their peers to do the same. There is no limit on the number of times a
Young Viking may earn this award.
Sorting & Recycling Challenge, Young Vikings earn +1 level for setting up a sorting system for recycling in their
home. If you already recycle, set up the system in another place such a friend’s house or business. Your city
or town will have information regarding recycling in your area. Young Vikings may earn this award only once.
Composting Challenge, Young Vikings earn +1 level for setting up a composing pile in order to return food scraps
from the house or lawn debris back into usable earth. Ever wonder why the Gods shaped the worlds from
Ymir's rotting form? This project goes well with the Gardening classes, showing the ‘darker-half’ of the plant
life cycle as an essential part of the regrowth process.
